Do you have a back pain or knee pain?
If so, there is a good chance you have your hips a bit stuck!
So when your hips are stuck, and you can not get enough of their range of motion, your body compensates and puts more pressure on the joints above and below.
The great pose to open the hips is the position of the Horse, which is part of our Yoga program.
But if your hips are tightly attached, you may need a facility to perform the pose. So I have a great modification for you today.
Position of the Modified Horse
1. Start on your knees in an upright position. If this is uncomfortable on the knees, place a blanket underneath them or place the rug underneath. This is the starting position.
2. In one inspiration, take a big step forward with your right leg.
3. Exhale by doing a knee bending of the front. The right heel should remain in contact with the floor and the knee will be straight on the foot. Place your hands on each side of the right leg, head forward or looking up. This is the final position.
4. To release the position, during inspiration, press the right foot out of the lunge position and exhale while bringing the right leg below the body to the starting position.
5. Repeat to the left side. Alternate sides with 5-10 reps for each.
Additional Modifications: You can also hold onto a wall to help maintain balance, or place blocks near the front of the rug to rest your hands if you find it difficult to get your fingertips to the floor in the final position.
Try it. I think you will start to feel your hips looser.
And you may also be surprised to know that a large part of the stress of stress in general and everyday life accumulates in your hips.
The first thing that comes to mind when we think of stress is shoulders and neck and stuck. But stress-related stress on your hips does not call as much attention until you end up having pain and injury.
Yoga will not only help you release more of your hips but it will also relieve the overall stress on the body, and help it relax.
What you may not realize, is that relieving stresses will also help you with your fat burning goals and sculpt the body!
